Merchants - Is Affiliate Marketing right for you?
By Mike Gunn @ 10:20 AM :: 192 Views :: 0 Comments :: Article Rating :: Affiliate Marketing

The first question I always get asked by merchants looking to launch an affiliate program;
                       How much revenue will my affiliate program generate?

Unfortunately it is very difficult to determine just how successful a merchant program will be in the affiliate channel.  However conversion data from other marketing channels and current traffic volume will help determine if the affiliate channel is right for you.  For new product or service offers we would suggest you first perform some paid search advertising. This will assist in determining if the affiliate channel is right for you.

Also take into consideration:
       Is your brand known to buyers? A well know brand will attract affiliates and consumers
       Does your site already have traffic?
       How many people are using search engines to find your product or service offering?
       Is your product for a niche market segment or a broader audience?
       Business to business or business to consumer?
       Are your competitors marketing in the affiliate channel?
       Have you analyzed your competitor’s success in the affiliate channel?
       Can you offer equal or more commissions than your competitors to attract affiliates?
       Is your value proposition equal to or better than your competitors?
       Does your site convert and at what rate?
       Do you offer: discounts, coupons, free shipping, 2 for 1, buy more save more?
